3 John

This portion of Al-Kitab takes its name from its author, the apostle John (pbuh). It is the shortest section of the holy Injil. John (pbuh) wrote this as a letter to Gaius, a follower of ‘Isa al-Masih known for his hospitality to strangers and his spiritual leadership. The letter praises another man named Demetrius for his exemplary life. The apostle John (pbuh) finds fault with a third man named Diotrephes for his selfish attitude and actions in his local congregation. Diotrephes thought of himself as most important in the local congregation and tried to make himself its leader.
