2 John

This portion of Al-Kitab takes its name from its author, the apostle John (pbuh). He writes briefly to urge followers of ‘Isa al-Masih to love one another, and to caution them about false teachers. In the early days of the ummah of ‘Isa al-Masih, teachers of the Injil travelled from city to city, relying on the hospitality of people in the local congregations. False teachers also did the same thing, posing as true teachers of the Injil. The false teachers were spreading their strange ideas for a price. They made their income this way, and untaught followers of ‘Isa al-Masih were easy prey for them. Apostle John (pbuh) instructs the believers that they are not to support, give shelter to, or help in any way false teachers spreading errors about ‘Isa al-Masih.
