1 John

This portion of Al-Kitab takes its name from its author, the Apostle John. He was one of the original 12 disciples chosen by ‘ISA AL-MASIH, and the only one who was not martyred but died a natural death in old age. Apostle John writes to describe how a person can know he is one of God’s people and part of the congregation of ISA AL-MASIH. Those who are followers of ISA AL-MASIH receive eternal life from God which has a clear effect on their lives now. They confess that ISA AL-MASIH is their Lord and the Saviour through whom they receive forgiveness of sins. They have a new deep love for God and for other believers. They obey God’s commands and do not continue in sinful practices. Apostle John encourages believers to live a life of close fellowship with God and ISA AL-MASIH. He also urges them to stand firm against false teachers, and gives believers assurance that they have received eternal life.
