1 John

This portion of Al-Kitab takes its name from its author, the apostle John (pbuh). He writes to describe how a person can know he is one of Allah’s people and part of the ummah of ‘Isa al-Masih. Those who are followers of ‘Isa al-Masih receive life from Allah (eternal life) which has a clear effect on their lives now. They confess that ‘Isaal-Masih is their leader and the one through whom they receive forgiveness of sins. They have a new deep love for Allah and for other believers. They obey Allah’s commands and do not continue in sinful practices. John (pbuh) encourages believers to live a life of close fellowship with Allah and ‘Isa al-Masih. He also urges them to stand firm against false teachers, and gives believers assurance that they have received eternal life.
