A Song of Ascents.
1Those who trust in YAHWEH1 are as Al-Quds,2
Which cannot be moved, but remains forever.
2As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
So YAHWEH surrounds his people from this time forth and forevermore.
3For the scepter of wickedness will not remain over the allotment of the righteous;
So that the righteous will not use their hands to do evil.
4Do good, YAHWEH, to those who are good,
To those who are upright in their hearts.
5But as for those who turn aside to their crooked ways,
YAHWEH will lead them away with the workers of iniquity.

- 125:1 YAHWEH, the name God revealed to Prophet Musa in the Taurat, Exodus 3:15 – God said moreover to Musa, “You shall tell Bani-Israel this, ‘YAHWEH, the God of your fathers, the God of Ibrahim, the God of Ishaq, and the God of Yaqub, has sent me to you.’ This is my Name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered to all generations.” ↩︎
- 125:1 Al-Quds, meaning “the Holy (City).” The Hebrew text says Mount Zion, but is intended to be a synonym for Jerusalem. It originally referred to Mount Zion, one of the hills of Jerusalem. ↩︎
